As you are well aware, there are many variables that go into the property tax equation. Valuations in cities like Bettendorf and other desirable communities continue to increase at attractive rates relative to other less attractive areas. If the value goes up in those areas so goes the taxes collected. The impact on the aggregate is logical.
We're hard pressed to understand all the nuances that are declared upon passage of a new law but suffice it to say that the underlying assumptions were static yet the environment is dynamic.
Let's not suffer from myopic vision while leveling a criticism of anyone. We all live in a dynamic world and I'm quite sure the taxpayers who only receive $2+ billion in tax savings vs. $4+ billion are not displeased.
Thanks for your watchdog efforts, Ed!
Thanks for this perspective, Ed.
